Accessibility

Commitment

IslandDex wants its website to be usable by everyone, including blind and visually impaired people who browse with a keyboard or a screen reader. The target standard is the French RGAA, aligned with WCAG 2.1 level AA.

Compliance status

The website is partially compliant with the RGAA. No full audit by an external body has been carried out yet: this status is based on an internal review.

What has been done

• A “Skip to content” link at the top of each page and identified regions (header, navigation, content, footer).
• A visible focus outline on every keyboard-usable element.
• Accessible names on icon buttons and links; decorative images are ignored by screen readers.
• Form fields tied to their labels; error and confirmation messages are announced.
• Dialogs (sign-in, report, edit…): focus moves into the dialog, Escape closes it, focus returns when it closes.
• Announced states: current page, selected tab, pressed button, open menu.
• Stronger text contrast, and reduced animations when your system asks for it.
• Page language declared (French or English).

Known limitations

• The UEFN Tools graphic editors (2D and 3D text, thumbnails) are visual by nature: their settings work with a keyboard, but the preview itself cannot be described in detail.
• Map thumbnails are provided by the community and have no detailed description: the map title is used as alternative text.
• Embedded YouTube videos depend on the YouTube player.
